Modern Civilisation has increased our exposure to electromagnetic currents while seeing further detachment from physical contact with the Earth’s surface. This buildup of static electricity can result in excess free radicals causing oxidative stress and negatively impacting muscular contractions, nerve transmission, hormone secretion, and other bodily functions.
Though not widely appreciated, the Earth’s surface possesses a limitless and continuously renewed supply of free or mobile electrons. The surface of the planet is electrically conductive, and its negative potential is maintained by the global atmospheric electrical circuit (Williams E, 1998).
The research suggests that this disconnect may be a major contributor to physiological dysfunction and unwellness. Reconnection with the Earth’s electrons has been found to promote intriguing physiological changes and subjective reports of well-being (Chevalier G, 2013).
Specifically, grounding an organism produces measurable differences in the concentrations of white blood cells, cytokines, and other molecules involved in the inflammatory response. Grounding appears to improve sleep, normalise the day-night cortisol rhythm, reduce pain, reduce stress, shift the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic toward parasympathetic activation, increase heart rate variability, speed wound heal thing, and reduce blood viscosity (Oschman J, 2015).
Blood viscosity and aggregation are major factors in hypertension and other cardiovascular pathologies, including myocardial infarction (Chevalier G, 2013).
Is becoming a barefoot hippy going to rid you of all current health battles? No, but it doesn’t cost you anything and has enough evidence behind it to be viewed as beneficial. Mother Nature knows best.
